Jefferson County Historical Society is reimagining its history exhibition spaces at the Jefferson Museum of Art & History with the intent of aligning visitor experiences with the values and strategic goals identified by the Museum’s leadership in partnership with our stakeholders. The exhibition development process will invite active engagement, collaboration, and co-creation with the broad and diverse communities of Jefferson County.
WHY REIMAGINE?
1. History is always changing.
Our history exhibits have not been significantly refreshed in decades, and we want to share new knowledge, stories, understandings, and perspectives.
2. Exhibits are foundational to our work.
Exhibits are the springboard for our programs and services; we want to bring the whole Museum to life, in alignment with our mission, vision, and values.
3.We want to be an important resource for our community.
Our new exhibits will connect with our community—people with different learning styles, ages, and interests.
THE BIG IDEA
We seek to examine and understand people’s lives—their connections with communities, cultures, economies—via their unique relationships with the land and water of this place.
Interpretive Frameworks:
